Soyis a genus of herbal plants of the legume family. This is the most common legumes of the world importance. A favorable combination of nutrients allows wide cultivation of soybeans as food, fodder and industrial plant.
Soybeans are high in proteins. Soy protein is similar in amino acid composition to the animal protein. Grain and unripe beans are consumed in food, soy milk, farmer cheese, confectionary are prepared from flour. Soy is used as a fodder. A popular product called «tofu» is a soy farmer cheese, which is prepared from soy milk.
Oil is used for the production of margarine and combined fats and refined oil is used for food. Soybeans serve as a raw material for many industrial products (synthetic fibers, plastics, adhesives, paints, soap, etc.), the main raw material for the production of artificial and synthetic foodstuff. Green feed, hay, grass meal, cake and meal are fed to the cattle.
Contaminants: mineral mixtures (gravel, slag, ores), the stems of leaves, pods; and spoiled rotten soybean seeds, seeds eroded by stored-grain pests; frosted, feeble and green grain; split seeds, sunflower.
